BEFORE THE INTENSIVE: GETTING STARTED
CLEAR YOUR CALENDAR
The remote intensive is fully immersive and requires you take off work and all major responsibilities from Saturday, January 11 to Saturday, January 18.
The intensive starts on Saturday, January 11 at 11 a.m. The intensive ends on Saturday, January 18 around 2 p.m. (Thesis and Thesis Research) and 5 p.m. (Arch 2 & 3).
CONNECT WITH YOUR PEERS
Students are encouraged to connect with each other using WhatsApp groups for the remote intensive. How do you join? When you fill out the required forms for intensive week, select the option to join your Intensive Week WhatsApp group.
CONFIRM YOUR PRE-SEMESTER CHECKLIST
Before classes start, we will ask you to confirm the following:
• I am able to access online tools and classes (access to a laptop/desktop with internet connection is not a problem).
• I am able to access the Moodle course page, Self-Service, BAC Cloud Canopy, Zoom, and Google Drive through my BAC account.
• I understand that some online classes may be taught via real time online meetings and/or individual homework and assignments, depending on the course and instructor.
• I understand that required documentation for Practice experience must be uploaded to Moodle before the Intensive starts.
• I understand that studios are taught via required real-time online meetings at least once a week for desk-crits, pin-ups, or reviews. I understand that these meetings require webcams or cameras and microphones, to which I have access.
• I understand that communication is important, and if any event comes up that hinders my participation in class, I will let my instructor know, to find a way to work through my circumstances.
• I understand that the Intensives are held January 11-18, 2024 and will require my full class participation during those times.
• I understand that academic support systems are available through the Learning Resource Center, Library, and Advising.
• For any technological questions, I know to reach out to IT at help@the-bac.edu
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH SOFTWARE AND MATERIALS LISTS
Instructors may require different sets of materials and software. It's best to reach out to your studio instructor directly. As a rule of thumb, we recommend you have materials ready to make a physical model including: an Xacto knife, a cutting mat, and chip board. Typically, Architecture Studio 2 and 3 students will want to have the Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) and Rhino software downloaded. Additional software may be required.
TO DO: SUBMIT YOUR PRE-INTENSIVE DOCUMENTS
